Thomaston- With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of John Nadeau, 83, who departed this world peacefully on June 14, 2026, after a short illness. Born on July 16, 1942, in Watertown, John was a beacon of warmth, humor, and unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and community.
John was the beloved son of the late Louis and Veronica (Shugrue) Nadeau; and cherished brother to his late sister, Eileen Nadeau. He is survived by his loving wife, France (Brisebois) Nadeau, who stood by his side for many years, filling their home with love and laughter. Together, they raised two devoted sons, Eric and Kevin, who will forever honor their father's legacy. John is also survived by his sisters, Cathy Nadeau and Marcia Werenko; along with numerous nieces and nephews who were the recipients of his boundless love and generosity.
A proud graduate of Watertown High School, John went on to become a licensed electrician, dedicating over three decades as a maintenance supervisor in a long-term care facility. His colleagues and the residents he served held him in high esteem, not only for his professional skills, but for his kindness and the genuine care he showed to everyone he encountered.
John's patriotic spirit was evident in his service with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, a period of his life he looked back on with pride. His commitment to service continued in civilian life as a longstanding member of the Watertown Knights of Columbus, where he served as the permittee for several years, and as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
His passions extended beyond his professional and civic duties into a life rich with hobbies and interests. John cherished his time spent at Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia, where, for over 40 years, he created treasured memories with family and friends through fishing, boating, and waterskiing. He also found joy in hunting trips to Lake Champlain in Vermont, adventures that were filled with laughter and camaraderie.
John will be remembered not only for his quick wit and warm smile, but for his extraordinary ability to make everyone he met feel welcomed and valued. His gift for humor often lightened the mood, and his kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on countless lives.
Calling hours will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., Watertown. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor a man whose life was a testament to love, service, and unyielding kindness.
Though John has left this earthly realm, the legacy of his love and laughter will remain in our hearts forever. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
